Don’t let me get in the way between the Star Trek franchise and world domination. Carry on gentlemen. But I will let my opinion be known when Star Trek decides to rattle sabers. We are in the most creative period to-date of video game development. In the last ten years, we have seen some of the greatest titles in video games be released: from First-Person Shooters like Modern Warfare, Battlefield, and HALO to incredibly original Third-Person Shooters (sort of) like Mass Effect and Gears of War. We have also seen the creation of some pretty awesome RPGs, MMOs, and RTSs such as World of Warcraft, EVE Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Rome and Shogun Total War. I haven’t even gone past the tip of the iceberg when it comes to great video game titles, but there comes a point when ambition can kill you–and by ambition I mean Star Trek’s 2013-video game release.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen. You get to play as Spock and CPT Kirk in a Third-Person Shooter adventure. Hope this doesn’t keep you from going to watch what will be a great sequel release-JJ Abrams’ Star Trek 2.
