Former Champ Matt Hughes settling on retirement.

The twice UFC Welterweight champ is getting ready to say goodbye to the Octagon. In a recent interview with the Iowa Daily Gate, the champ stated that even though he never officially retired, he is definitely not signing up for anymore fights.

Instead, Hughes has gone back to his roots and finds himself working on his family farm, not spending as much time MMA training. He also has a hunting show on the Outdoor Channel which he will continue to work on.

The highly-respected and legendary Matt Hughes lost his final two bouts in the Octagon, on Sept. 24 2011 to Josh Koscheck, and on Nov. 2012 to BJ Penn. However, he holds on to a legendary professional MMA record of 45 wins (15 KO, 20 Sub) and 9 losses, including 2 wins of the UFC Welterweight title and being the first fighter to defeat Royce Gracie by TKO or Submission.

Thank you for all the years of fighting, the effort, and the passion Matt! We, the fans, love you and may God continue blessing you.
