True worth in God: Landry Jones

It doesn’t matter what you think of him as a quarterback or as an athlete. Maybe it does to you, but in the grand scheme of it all, it doesn’t matter. Landry Jones may not play for your school or not be a name you recognize at all. What I must recognize is the ability that God gives man to humble oneself in recognition of how imperfect we are and how much in need we are of God–regardless of where we are in life.

Landry Jones is the starting quarterback for the Oklahoma Sooners. He is a very talented player and will most likely be a pretty solid NFL quarterback, God willing. But, more important than that, he is a Christian and a believer who knows where priorities are in life. Below you can watch his video testimony for  I Am Second. For more information on I Am Second and their mission, check out their website linked website. Peace.

“In the end of times it’s not really gonna matter if I’m a Hall of Famer quarterback or a great college quarterback or anything like that…it’s gonna matter what I did on this earth and how I used my gifts for God.” -Landry Jones

What You Need to be Watching Saturday Afternoon

Landry Jones is playing for Oklahoma pride and NFL Draft stock.

Alright so let’s rewind a couple days back to Thursday night, November 1st, 2012. Feel more than free to skip on Eastern Michigan at Ohio–not exactly where the action is going to be at even though I am happy to be wrong. Virginia Tech travels down to Miami, Florida, to take on the Hurricanes on a game that will give us a better picture of how much rebuilding the Hokies need in the off-season. Va Tech is sitting at 4-4 (2-2) two wins away from bowl eligibility with four games left in the season (@ Miami, vs FSU, @ Boston College, vs UVA). The Hokies should be able to manage two more wins; however, I am not sure one of those will be happening on Thursday night. What about Miami? Let’ not talk about Miami.

Let’s move on to Saturday:

No. 12 Oklahoma at Iowa State (12:00PM, ABC)

Can the Sooners pick themselves up after a tough loss to Notre Dame last Sunday night? We will see. Iowa State isn’t a heavyweight, but in the world of college football, anything goes. Landry Jones, OU’s very talented and strong QB, still has plenty to critics out there and needs to shows in these last few games what he’s got if he wants his NFL Draft stock to go up before the end of the year. The Sooners will win this game, no doubt, but how strongly they win is what we all want to know.

No. 16 Texas A&M at No. 15 Mississippi State (12:00PM, ESPN)

No doubts should remain that the Aggies can hold their own in the SEC. After close losses against Florida and LSU, and wins against Auburn and Louisiana Tech, the only thing the Aggies have to prove is whether they want to be at the top or the bottom of the SEC.

As for the Bulldogs, it has been a pretty impressive season with only one loss at Tuscaloosa. This is an SEC matchup the Miss. State doesn’t want to flop in. This should be a really good game, but I am giving the edge to Texas A&M.

Pittsburgh at #3 Notre Dame (3:30PM, NBC)

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish decisively beat Oklahoma last weekend. Now, all they need to do is decisively defeat the rest of their games to somehow argue before the football world that they deserve the #2 spot against the Crimson Tide. This can’t be a close win for Notre Dame. It has be swift and decisive–no questions asked.
